Here at DC Diaper Bank headquarters have been smiling like crazy because we’ve got a awesome new board member. We first met Heather about a year ago when she arranged a diaper drive to benefit the DCDB and we have been trying to get her to work with us since then! Read below to see why we’re so excited to have her on board:
How did you become aware of and interested in the issue of diaper need?
While working at Whole Foods Market, I had the amazing job of creating partnerships with various non-profit organizations. At the time I was pregnant with my second son and was looking for ways to partner with organizations that helped moms and babies. When I learned about DC Diaper Bank, I knew it was a match made in heaven. What excites you most about working with DC Diaper Bank?
There’s so much! I love that we’re still a young organization. There’s so much opportunity and need to grow, explore and help our community thrive. At the end of the day, nothing is better than seeing a mother’s shoulders relax because the burden of providing a clean diaper for her child has been lifted.
What things can we expect in the next year or so?
Expect big things! Get ready for more drives, more events and more opportunities to help babies in our community! We’re ready to grow and we need your support! When you’re not living and breathing diapers what are you doing?
I’m a wife to my amazing photographer husband, Joe Foley, and I’m a mom to two very busy little boys, Matt (18 months) and Sam (4 years). You can typically find us at home gardening, crafting, cooking and generally running amuck. I’m also a runner and CrossFit nerd. When I’m not chasing the boys around, I can be found teaching food education and kid classes at Whole Foods Market in Montgomery County.
