Here at the DC Diaper Bank, we’re more than just diapers. We’re also doing our part to make our planet healthier. While it might sound like what a dinosaur would ride to school, Terracycle is actually a recycling program for plastic diaper packaging, wipes packaging and baby food pouches. The program keeps these items out of landfills and helps DC Diaper Bank raise some funds. Since partnering with Terracycle, we’ve been able to keep 50 square feet of packaging out of landfills! Picture that for a moment – 50 square feet crammed to bursting with the thin plastic packaging that surrounds diapers. That’s A LOT of plastic!
Tell your friends, family, and neighbors! DC Diaper Bank’s Terracycle program is also in several area childcare centers, but we’d love to be in more, so be sure to tell your provider about the program – download a DCDB Diaper Packaging Recycling Program Flyer and Signs to share. In addition we recycle baby food pouches and wipes packaging. We also collect plastic packaging at our Warehouse and on Capitol Hill. So next time you crack open a new pack of diapers for your little one, please set the packaging aside for DCDB. Let us know you’re collecting and we can arrange drop off of the recycling. Email firstname.lastname@example.org.
We’d love to help you recycle your plastic diaper packaging, so drop it off, spread the word, and be a Terracylist!
