Support the future of the Diaper Bank with a gift to our Founders Fund.
In 2010, Corinne Cannon founded the DC Diaper Bank, after the birth of her first child (Jack) the year prior. Like all new parents, her world was turned upside down by the experience of bringing a little person into the world and caring for an infant – but she wondered about parents who did not have access to the resources and the help she did. Thus, the Diaper Bank was founded, to provide a reliable source of diapers – an essential item not covered by SNAP, WIC, or other federal programs – to families in the DC region.
In the years since, under Cannon’s leadership, the organization has grown to a full-time staff of 10, operates a 13,000-square-foot warehouse, and serves tens of thousands of families each year with 11 million diapers. In the last three years, the organization has weathered a global pandemic, product shortages, and inflation, while still growing output by 500% from pre-pandemic numbers to meet increasing demands as families face increasing financial challenges and economic uncertainty.
After 13 years, Corinne will be leaving the organization in spring 2023 to explore other passions. Your gift today to the Founders Fund honors Corinne Cannon’s legacy by ensuring the organization is able to serve families for many decades to come. The organization is a regional resource to 75+ partners who provide food, housing, childcare, perinatal care, mental healthcare, and other essential services to vulnerable residents in the DC area. Your support of Greater DC Diaper Bank strengthens our community as we work together to provide the resources that families need to thrive.
